This Privacy Policy explains how USFoil (“USFoil”, “we”, “us”) handles information in the USFoil HUB athlete development platform (the “Platform”). By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Guest accounts created with an event code collect the same information. Guest sailors self-track their skills and cannot receive certification sign-off until they join a HUB, at which point their existing records carry over.
We use information to operate the Platform, verify eligibility, administer HUB and team membership, track development and certification, communicate with athletes, parents and coaches, produce leaderboards and recognition, improve coaching and programming, and promote USFoil and foiling generally.
By using the Platform you expressly authorise USFoil to share, disclose, publish, reproduce and otherwise use your information, data, photographs, video and audio with and by FOILFAST, WASZP, KA Sail, their parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, distributors, licensees, sponsors, class associations and other related entities, without limitation as to purpose, media, territory, duration or frequency, and without further notice, approval, compensation or attribution to you.
This authorisation includes commercial, promotional, marketing, editorial, coaching, research and event uses, in any medium now known or later developed.
We may also share information with:
Sponsors invited into the Platform have their own restricted page. They see aggregated, anonymised participation numbers and standings, and can exchange messages with coaches, and with sailors who choose to write to them. Sponsors cannot view athlete profiles, activity, fitness or certification records.
Recognition of athlete achievement is a core purpose of the Platform. Leaderboards, celebration cards and similar features are public by default. You may opt out of public visibility at any time in the Privacy section at the bottom of My Profile. Opting out does not withdraw the authorisation in Section 3 or affect anything already published.
Athletes under 18 must supply a parent or guardian email at sign-up. The parent or guardian receives a consent request and must consent before the account is approved. The parent or guardian consents on the athlete’s behalf to this Policy and to the Terms of Use, including the authorisations in Section 3. Parents may use our Contact Us form to review or withdraw consent going forward.
Access is restricted by role and enforced at the database level. No system is perfectly secure and we do not guarantee absolute security. We keep each category of information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and we set and enforce a retention period for every category.
For athletes under 13 we do not keep personal information indefinitely. Messages, photos and video, voice notes, on-water and GPS logs, imported activity files, fitness records and profile details are deleted once they are no longer reasonably necessary for the purpose they were collected for, once the retention period for that category has passed, or sooner if deletion is requested or otherwise required. A parent or guardian may ask us to delete their child’s information at any time through our Contact Us form.
Consent and legal audit records — the record of who consented, to what, when, and under which document versions — and certification and endorsement assessment history are held separately from the above and kept for as long as is reasonably necessary for compliance and legal purposes. Keeping that audit trail does not mean an athlete’s messages, tracks, media, activity files or profile information are kept with it. Media and data already shared under Section 3 may continue to be used by the authorised entities.
You can view and update your profile, photo and details at any time in My Profile, opt out of public visibility, or request deletion of your account through our Contact Us form. Deletion does not require us or any authorised entity to recall, remove or stop using material already shared or published.
We may update this Policy at any time. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
